Seminyak
Seminyak is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Bali. It’s only about 40 minutes from the airport, so it’s a good place to kick start your Bali adventure. In my opinion it’s one of the least beautiful parts, however there is so much going on and a lot to see, so having never been to Bali before, starting off with 2 nights here was perfect to get a feel of the place. We stayed at Capsule Hostel, one of the main hostels which had comfortable beds and was ideal for our short stop off. It’s a party hostel so don’t stay if you are wanting quiet early nights. If you do not have long to spend in Bali, we would recommend just visiting Seminyak by taxi from Canggu as a day trip. Depending on traffic… Canggu is 30 minutes by taxi, Uluwatu is 45 mins – 1 hr south. Ubud is about 1.5 hrs away.
TO DO IN SEMINYAK
EAT! There are countless restaurants lining the main and side streets of Seminyak, and there really is something to suit everyone’s tastes. Most restaurants boast healthy, fresh food, with a focus on vegetarian food too… smoothie bowls, chia bowls, exotic salads, and fresh fish galore. We only stayed two days in Seminyak, however we of course did find some incredible eats.
The Bistrot is a French style restaurant with the most beautiful vintage interior, serving incredible food. This was my first restaurant meal out in Bali and I was genuinely shocked at the prices! My caramelised banana and hazelnut choc pancakes were the dream, and only about £3.
Principle for dinner was a top find, Italian food done right.

PARTY! Seminyak is known for it’s party vibes because of it’s famous club ‘La Favela’. As you walk past the sign it looks pretty cool but unsuspecting, until you walk through the doors and around its many floors and secret rooms. When you walk through the tropical garden, it looks like an enchanted forest with hidden corners, waters, ponds, levels, bridges, statues and seats everywhere. Every corner is covered in antiques and vintage furniture, and every night beautiful people flood in to enjoy the food/late night dancing.
Seminyak is also home to Potato Head Beach Club, one of the most famous beach clubs on the island. Hire a bed, or simply float around in the pool listening to the DJ’s tunes as the sun goes down.
SHOP! Although it wasn’t my favourite spot in Bali, it was certainly the best area if you are into shopping. There is a huge variety of shops lining the main street, and even every little cobbled side street you will stumble upon clothing boutiques, furniture stores, galleries, homewares and bikini shop after bikini shop. If this sounds like what you’re after, then Seminyak is a must go on your trip.
