Visiting Noosa: A Chiller’s Haven
A chiller’s haven.
Nestled on southern Queensland’s Sunshine Coast, you’ll find the magical little place called Noosa. With white sandy beaches, cute cafés galore, surfers rolling on the waves and epic sunsets, safe to say I was very happy here. Having heard so many great things about the area we planned to spend four days there.
On arrival in Noosa we decided to check-in to the YHA Hostel as it was in the perfect location, right next to Noosa Main Beach. Given that we had been rather unlucky with the weather up until now, we were very ready for some lazy days lying in the sun and topping up our tans. Noosa Main Beach is one of the very few north-facing beaches in Australia and is a great place to spend the day. Along the beach there are many bars and restaurants and the sunset is beautiful. One evening we went to Zachary’s Gourmet Pizza Bar and picked up some takeaway pizza's to take to the beach and watch the sun go down, which was a lovely way to end the day. We also spent another evening having drinks at Noosa Heads Surf Life Saving Club, it’s cheap and cheerful and again has great views of the sunset.
Along with some long lazy beach days, Noosa has a huge national park and so we decided to spend a day walking around this. Noosa national park features the spectacular coastal scenery of Noosa Headland, the park is a wildlife sanctuary, protecting beautiful stands of eucalyptus forest and woodland trees, it's like wandering around the rainforest. The 10km walk around the park was stunning and we would definitely suggest spending half a day doing this. As you walk around the park you will see many hidden beaches and surf havens, we also stumbled across the beautiful Fairy Pools. The Fairy Pools are two natural tidal pools where we chilled for a day with some cold drinks and a picnic, jumping in and out of the pools admiring the beautiful setting. Do make sure to check the tides when you go though as the pools are encrusted with barnacles so you have to take caution when jumping.
In terms of places to eat, we tended to do a lot of cooking in the hostel as we are on quite a tight budget. However, one place we did venture out to was Betty’s Burgers, its around 10$ for a burger and they are honestly incredible. We also spent the morning having breakfast and coffees at 10 Hastings Street, but you won’t struggle to come across delicious places to eat, it’s literally a part of the Noosa culture.
Having spent three nights staying in the YHA Hostel we decided to stay somewhere cheaper the last night. A friend told us about this campsite that he found on the Wiki Camps app which was nice and cheap. He had apparently woken up to Kangaroos bouncing around his car which sounded amazing and so we decided to spend our last night in Noosa here. Overall, we had a fantastic time in Noosa and the weather was delightful, if you are looking for some beautiful scenery and a quiet escape for a few days, Noosa should be a part of your itinerary.
