3 Day Trips from Valencia
If you have some time to kill in the Spanish city of Valencia, but want to get out of the city buzz, here’s 3 great options.
Visit the Hot springs in Montanejos
Start your day off at Bridal Veil Waterfall for a swim, before continuing to Fuente de los Baños, home to so many natural hot springs which you can spend the day dipping in and out of. Allow yourself some time here to explore the various springs, and don’t be surprised that they’re not all actually hot! The final stop we went to was called Dam of Arenoso, which is a fast flowing body of water built into the side of a cliff known as El Chorro.
2. Visit the Hot Springs in Segorbe
Slightly closer by to Valencia, only around 45 mins by car, is Altura (beside a place called Segorbe). There are some smaller springs there which are still a great day trip if you don’t have the time to go to Montanejos. I would recommend to take food and drinks and enjoy chilling for the day!
3. Xátiva
Just a short train or bus ride from Valencia lies Xàtiva, a charming old town that promises a perfect day trip. As you arrive, you'll be greeted by the town's calm ambiance, a contrast to the busier city energy of Valencia. The highlight of Xàtiva is for sure its impressive castle, perched high on a hill and offering breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
After visiting the castle, you can take a leisurely stroll through the town's quaint streets, where you can admire the traditional Spanish architecture and vibrant local culture. I swear always just wandering the streets in Spain is the best way to spend a day!? Xàtiva's atmosphere is relaxing, so allow yourself time to unwind and enjoy the slower pace of life. In terms of food, you'll find plenty of local restaurants serving up delicious lunch deals, showcasing the best of Valencian cuisine. Whether you're savoring a traditional paella or sampling fresh tapas, there’s something for all!
In addition to the castle and dining options, Xàtiva is home to several other attractions, including beautiful churches, museums, and charming plazas that are perfect for a casual afternoon of wandering. With its combination of historical significance, epic food, and all round peaceful atmosphere, Xàtiva offers a great escape from Valencia for the day and a chance to connect to the authentic charm of a traditional Spanish town.
